    I drove a hired Ranger Wildcat V6 for a Holiday over 3 weeks. Nice ute, but I had to return the first one back to the car hire because it had all manner of electrical gremlins with it safety systems and infotainment. The car hire people said that out of 50 new Rangers that they received, 4 of them had to be returned for similar issues. Not a good stat for reliability.

  • @tonystrickland62

    Got a Dmaxwork ute. Engine is great as well as transmission. However....tyres worn out on shoulders up front at 19k, front camera constantlying on the fritz, auto braking activates at random moments with no vehicles in front and the factory suspension is rubbish. 50k on it now and already up for a 3rd pair of front tyres......Isuzu not interested in fixing the steering knuckle issue causing the premature tyre wear....
    Next ute WONT be a Dmax!

    I owned a 21 Dmax xterrain for nearly 4 years, towing a 3 ton caravan around Australia for 2 of those. Not one issue. I recently went out and bought another 24 xterrain trading in my old Dmax for good money I thought. I think it’s also interesting in the test the 10 speed transmission vs the 6 speed.
    The Dmax engine compared to the Ranger’s 2.0 litre and the V6 is far less stressed engine. This adds to its robustness, longevity and resale.

  • @cmelft2463
    @cmelft2463 2 дня назад +2

    Have a 21 dmax as a company car (so no bias as no money invested) - to keep it simple, its a comfortable ute to drive, motor doesn't seem bothered to achieve what it needs to achieve (feels easy to get there and not struggling or reving itself to get its way there) and no issues with it at 80k now. Also gearbox is really smooth for just a 6 speed

  • @Jimvl3pv-e4n
    @Jimvl3pv-e4n 2 дня назад +3

    Giving opinions on reliability can also be subjective rather than factual.
    Plenty of people won't buy euro with the perception they are unreliable and expensive to fix.
    I personally would never buy a BMW as I know too many family and friends who have had problems with them.
    Given these both have full 5/6 year warranty as reviewed, maybe you could offer your opinion of which one you would buy in and out of warranty instead?
    Alot of people including myself wouldn't own any common rail diesel after 200K and out of warranty.
    Cheers

    It's crazy that some on ramps to freeways aren't long enough for these slow utes to reach freeway speed when merging. You can understand it with big heavy trucks but not something ute sized. Load it up with the tools of the trade and perhaps a trailer and the thing is painfully slow. I'd hate to be in that situation.

    • @HolyGrail98

      No, the Dmax won simply because of it's wider and longer torque band at 1600-2600RPM for peak torque and 1400-3250RPM for midrange. The Ford doesn't have that, only 1750-2000 rpm for peak torque. The Ford's torque band is too narrow.

    • @user-pp6kw6yl6z
      @user-pp6kw6yl6z 2 дня назад

      I think it matters because it gives an indication of how easy the vehicle is to live with day to day, ease of overtaking, acceleration on to highways etc. I have gone from a slow 4cyl diesel to a much faster straight 6 diesel and I would never go back.

    • @Ross-e9o

      @@user-pp6kw6yl6z There is not a diesel dual cab Ute on the market today which does not comfortably accelerate from 0-100kph and more importantly from 80-100kph. What a stupid comment about a drag race. Every one who knows anything about diesels can identify this is just a just the throttle response tune fit an EVC throttle controller to both this will eliminate the factory throttle response and put them on the same level. This is the same as the older Triton which was a bout the fastest over the 1/4 mile now it has changed its response.
    Drag racing is a crock when it comes to utes or any 4WD, no one I have ever known just puts their foot to the fire wall every time they take off but what they do is transport themselves, tow trailers or vans safely.

    @commentkreeper3892 2 дня назад

    Just my honest opinion from a nobody. Average review. Havent covered anything the average person cant see for themselves on a brochure. Boring content presentation sitting at a desk. As for the utes, two incomparable vehicles. Ranger is light years ahead with ford spending 8.2 billion in R&D to bring us the most up to date advanced vehicles versus Isuzu who struggle to even put out a figure for R&D. In terms of vehicle issues, every make and model has issues its just whether or not you are unlucky enough to get a lemon. Dmax has a long list of issues same as Ranger. No good telling us "You've heard stories", we have all heard stories. Its a car review/comparison, put up some evidence or stats. I dont think this will sway anyones decision on which ute to buy. As you can see from the comments, everyone backing the Dmax already owns one. We use Dmax's as trade Vehicles and we call them Tractors, not pretty or glamorous but they get the job done.
